wewontbequiet: It is You who created the universe into existence with one word from Your mouth. “Let there be light,” and there was; “Let there be darkness,” and so it was done. It is You who formed the first man from the dust of the earth and breathed Your life into him and called him Adam. He was the very first one—the first earthly father of all of mankind.It is You who opened the wombs of barren women and looked upon them in their emptiness and blessed them with children, and it is You who gave a son to a woman in her old age. It is You who fed the multitude with only two fish and five loaves; You who created sight out of a man born blind, and the One who turned plain water into delicious wine.It is You who healed the sick, who set the captives free, and who raised the dead. With one word from Your mouth, one touch of Your hand—and even Your garment—those who believed received. It is You who calmed the furious storm that racked a boat with a group of people cowering in fear of drowning. But as they accused You of not caring, You stand up and command the waves and the wind to cease. And so they did, and these men look at You in a way they never had before. Their mouths must have gaped open, shame rising from their throats as they whisper, “Who is this man? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!”It is You who was murdered and hung upon a tree by Your own people. You took the place of sinners and tasted hell and death itself so we need not to. You felt the shame and the righteous and holy judgment of Your Father as You experienced, for the first time, what it felt like to be separated from Him—to be separated from Your very source of peace, strength, joy. Intimacy with Him gone as You not only carried a curse, but became one Yourself. It is You who died but was resurrected on the third day, having fought the power of darkness and having victory over sin and death and hell.  Oh Lord, how can we doubt You? On and on and on, history tells stories about how the glorious Son of God has done—and is doing—thousands upon thousands of miracles, things that just could not be explained, things that just could not be. But they are. Because You are powerful. You are mighty. You are strong. You are stronger than our enemies, our fears, our mistakes, our worries, our past. You are mightier than all of them put together. For in Your hands You hold all things together—the universe and all that is in it. More than that, You hold us in Your hand. The same hands that have risen the dead and healed the sick and gave sight to the blind and cleansed lepers and calmed the storm.Those hands have destroyed those who attack Your people and brought healing and peace and strength. Those hands have shielded Your people—a strong tower that the righteous run into for safety.  Those hands not only moved mountains but made them. Those hands hold all power in the world…And these hands are holding me. In You, Jesus, I put my trust. The LORD is with me—what shall I fear?
